Wrentham Recreation Complex Update

In 2000, the town of Wrentham purchased 80 acres of property at the Wrentham Development Center from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for development of a full-scale recreation complex. The property is bordered by Emerald Street and Dedham Street (Rt 1A) and includes all of the soccer fields currently used by KPSA and Wrentham Youth Soccer.

In 2002 Gale Associates completed a design for the complex. The design includes multiple soccer fields as well as fields for football, baseball and lacrosse. The design also includes parking, concession stand, basketball courts, a tot lot, in-line skating and skateboard parking, walking trails and a multi-purpose turf field. The estimated cost of the entire complex is between $5-7 million.

Over the last several months of 2003, the Wrentham Recreation Committee began a series of meetings with associated user groups to develop a strategy for developing the complex. With the price tag in the millions, the consensus is that at least half of the cost will have to be provided from sources other than local public funds. These sources include a capital campaign, grants, and user group fundraising.

This page will provide up to date information on the development of the Recreation Complex and specifically it's impact on KPSA. In anticipation of developing and implementing a funding strategy, KPSA's board of directors is seeking anyone with knowledge or experience in a major capital campaign or fundraising effort. This includes expertise with non-profit operations as pertains to legal, financial, marketing or governance functions.
