From: Curley, Erika (SEN) To: ******@comcast.net Sent: Monday, March 14, 2005 10:40 AM Subject: Tracking Bills Hi John, It was nice to meet with you last Tuesday. All bills will be posted on http://www.mass.gov/legis/. This site will allow any one access to all pending bills by clicking on the "Text if Senate Bills" or "Text of House Bills" links. These links will allow you to search Senate or House bills by number or subject matter content. Thousands of bills were filed in December of 2004. These bills must be assigned to the appropriate committee where they will be converted from docket numbers to bill numbers. Once bill numbers are assigned, they are then uploaded onto the server. Normally, the Senate Clerk's Office and the House Clerk's Office upload the bills on the site during the first month of the new session. However, not all the bills are available on the server at this time. This is due to the major restructuring of the House, including the election of a new Speaker of the House. For the first time in ten years, the House has reformulated all of the committees, thus the assignment of bills to the appropriate committee and the conversion to bill numbers has been delayed. Once the committees are staffed and up and running, the process of uploading the newly converted bill numbers will be completed. The Senate Clerk and House Clerk are aware of the delay and are trying to expediate the process. Currently, Docket number 2626 is being uploaded online. I hope this information is helpful. Please, do not hesitate to contact me if you have any other concerns. Sincerely, Erika L. Curley Director of Constituent Services State Senator Scott P. Brown Room 520, State House p.
