You can live a full and rewarding life as you get older. At HESSCO Elder Services we have dedicated ourselves to finding solutions to help those over sixty take full advantage of their later years. The agency's goal is to make it easier for older individuals and their families to access a comprehensive system of health and supportive services. As an Area Agency on Aging, HESSCO has helped older individuals of all means, backgrounds and health conditions since 1977. Our organization prides itself in helping elders live safely at home.
You will find that HESSCO Elder Services is an all inclusive source for almost anything you require to maintain your safety and quality of life such as home delivered meals, personal care, homemaking, adult day care, legal services and money management.
HESSCO Elder Services' Nutrition Program operates hot lunch programs serving individuals 60 and older, and their spouses, who live in the South Norfolk County area. Meals are served on-site at the Norfolk Council on Aging Monday through Friday. Anyone age 60 and older, along with their spouses, are eligible to attend the noontime meal. Reservations are required two days in advance by calling the Norfolk site at 508-541-6872 or HESSCO's office at 781-784-4944. There is no charge for the meal, but we request a confidential donation of $2.50 per meal to help defray the cost of the program.
Home-Delivered Meals are also available in the town of Norfolk to people 60 years of age and older with limited mobility, and their spouses, who are unable to prepare meals for any of the following reasons:
They lack the physical, emotional, or cognitive ability to attend a meal site or prepare a nutritious meal
They have no facility to prepare meals
They have no formal or informal support system to provide a meal
If someone is interested in signing up for Home-Delivered Meals, please contact HESSCO at 781-784-4944. A care manager will visit to determine one's eligibility for the meals. The process is free and the care manager will answer any questions. There is no charge for the Home-Delivered Meals, but we request a confidential donation of $2.50 to help defray the cost of the program.
Volunteers are an essential part of the Nutrition Program, and we are always looking for more. The time commitment is two hours daily, weekly, or monthly - whatever fits your schedule. Volunteer applications can be found at www.hessco.org or by calling 781-784-4944.
