An Evening of "Art & Blossoms"

Do you need a taste of spring after a long, cold, snowy winter? If so, you will enjoy an upcoming event featuring the talents of both local artists and members of the Garden Club of Norfolk. On Wednesday, April 13th from 6 to 9pm, the Garden Club is holding an "Art & Blossoms" event in the new media room at the King Philip North Middle School, King Street, Norfolk. The idea is based on the Museum of Fine Arts annual "Art in Bloom" show, where members of Massachusetts Garden Clubs put their artistic and flower arranging skills together and interpret individual pieces of art in the Museum. The results are fascinating and well worth seeing. For the Garden Club of Norfolk's show, local artists will be exhibiting their work, which is comprised of paintings, photography, stained glass and sculpture. Club members will interpret their pieces of art in a floral design. The show will be open to the public, for free, and participating artists will have other examples of their work available for sale.

The Garden Club of Norfolk, Inc. is a non-profit organization, founded in 1985, and the Club joined the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts in 1988. Members, who are enthusiastic amateur gardeners, meet monthly and enjoy lectures and workshops on horticulture and gardening. They design and maintain many civic garden areas in the Town of Norfolk.

The Garden Club has a 20th anniversary this year. In celebration, they have put together a wonderful community cookbook along with gardening tips, From the Garden to the Table. A tasting of some of the recipes will be served at the show. The book will also be available for purchase. Colorful artwork for the divider pages of the book was done by students of the King Philip High School, and black and white drawings were done by club members. The student's original artwork will also be on display at the show. Come, enjoy and experience a wonderful evening and see what a talented community you live in!
