Jazz Night at King Philip High School

Wednesday May 17th 7pm at King Philip High School Auditorium, Wrentham, The King Philip Jazz Program, including three Jazz Ensembles will present an evening of Jazz and Swing.

King Philip Music department is excited to announce that Guest Artist Jeff Galindo will be featured. A trombonist, he is currently on the faculty of Berklee College of Music and has performed with the Boston Pops, Ray Charles, Kenny Hadley Big Band, and Clark Terry among many others. He has previously toured Japan and Europe.

An exciting repertoire will include music including:

Stan Kenton's Malaga, Count Basie's "Ya Gotta Try", Duke Ellington's "Braggin in Brass," "Cottontail," and many others.

Both KP Jazz Ensemble I and Jazz Ensemble II were recently awarded gold medals at the International Association of Jazz Educators' state finals held at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and will be playing at the Hatch Shell in Boston on Saturday May 20th. This is the first time that Jazz Ensemble II has won this award, an exciting achievement for the department. It is an honor for both bands to play at such a fun venue.
