Norfolk Together Raffle Entries Down

Norfolk Together recently announced that the group will give residents an extra week to purchase tickets for its "Fun" and "Leisure" raffles. The drawing for each of the prizes will be November 20, rather than November 13, as indicated on the printed tickets which every resident of Norfolk received early in October.

"We are sure that people in Norfolk are experiencing hard times because our raffle ticket sales-our only fundraiser-are only a little more than half of last year's returns," said chair Betty Lehan. "We have always had such tremendous community support, that we wanted people to know that many of their neighbors must be experiencing serious needs."

The drawing date will coincide with the annual Food Drive sponsored by Norfolk Together, the Norfolk Teacher Parent Association and the Norfolk Teacher's Association. On Thursday, November 20, students in the Norfolk School System collect items during their lunch period for the Norfolk Food Pantry.

Norfolk Together is a 14-year-old charitable organization for Norfolk residents who have fallen on hard times to turn to their charitable neighbors for anonymous help with oil, electric, medical and other bills that might become overwhelming when a job is lost or illness occurs. Norfolk Together also provides scholarship support for children's programs.

Lehan confirmed that requests for payment of heating bills had increased with the chilly fall weather.

Members of Norfolk Together will be selling the raffle tickets, one ticket for a dollar, six tickets for 5 dollars, at the Special Town Meeting, Tuesday, October 28, and Tuesday, November 4. If you did not receive tickets, please contact Barbara Ward at 508-528-0052.

Prizes in the blue-ticketed "Fun" raffle include: 4 tickets to a spring Pawtucket Red Sox game, 2 Bruins tickets, a gift certificate from Fore Kicks, or a gift certificate for an oil change at Daley's Sunoco.

Prizes in the pink-ticketed "Leisure" raffle include a luxurious spa basket with certificates for a facial and a manicure, a gift certificate from Heart and Hand country accessories, 4 movie tickets for the Bellingham cinemas, or a gift certificate for the Eagle Brook Saloon.

If you need help from Norfolk Together, applications are available at the town clerk's office and the senior citizen's center on Medway Branch, or write Norfolk Together, P.O. Box 223, Norfolk, MA 02056.
